Movement is an exploration of the beauty found in the fleeting moments of youth, when risk is synonymous with fun. Crafting a narrative within a limited timeframe (2:30) presented a unique challenge, inspiring a division of labor between each release element to provide context.

One distinctive choice was using a title that is never mentioned in the piece. Movement is not merely symbolic, but also the name of an annual music festival in Detroit, held every summer.

The collage cover art is a visual journal composed of images from this event and the broader Detroit area, providing a glimpse into the places and objects that decorate the weekend of the tracks character set.

In the production, samples weave in and out, reflecting our fragmented memories. To add depth, multiple sounds were bounced onto cassette tapes and left outside in the July heat—a degradation that captures the sun-burned, wobbly atmosphere.

This division of a narratives full context is an artistic concept I am still solidifying. How much, and what can be omitted before closure is no longer possible for the listener? Consider Movement a first attempt.
