Salt

Salt

Salt

I need somebody to touch me

There’s salt in sweat, there’s salt in tears;

taste it when our tongues meet, our teeth

puncturing the flesh Like tiny Roman spears.

Reaffirm existence when your skin is tight against mine,

same space, same time, remind alive,

same place, same time, alive, alive, alive.

How come it’s always over when I’ve just got out the gate?

Hands held, a bunch of nothing, when I think I’m finally safe.

Shouldn’t be searching for a saviour,

supposed to get there by yourself,

but I can’t,

I need somebody else.

Reaffirm existence when your skin is tight against mine,

same space, same time, Remind alive,

Same place, same time, Alive, alive, alive.

How come it’s always over When I’ve just got out the gate?

Hands grasp a bunch of nothing when I think I’m finally safe.

If looking back is pillars, these short bursts of false water,

it was named the Dead Sea, but dead things don’t pull you under.

Climb onto me, I’d never pull you under.
